Brexit

Theres a vaccine! So lets talk about something refreshing (it may seem) Brexit, back at the forefront of our media outlets, can Mr johnson get UK a good deal?
Small businesses who may hire or have hired EU and non-EU citizens, I would advise continue reading on for new guidance rules coming into effect from 1st January 2021.
From 1st January 2021 freedom of movement between the UK and EU will end. The UK will introduce an immigration system that will aim to treat all international applicants equally using a points based system.
The new system will not apply to EEA or Swiss citizens already working and living in the UK by 31 December 2020 and their family members. However, they will need to apply to the EU settlement scheme by 30 June 2021.
As a UK registered company you will need to obtain a sponsor license to hire any citizen from outside the UK (excluding Northern Ireland).
There are is a list of criteria that need to be met, a few listed below:
- Speak English at the required level
- Job offer is of a required level equivalent to that of A levels
- Minimum salary of £25,600 or the ‘going rate’ for the job offer, whichever is higher.
Further information on which occupations are at the required skill level and the salaries for these occupations can be found here. UK points-based immigration system: further details statement.
